What is an eco-stitch gun?

An eco-stitch gun is an electric hot melt adhesive glue gun designed for use on packaging.
It uses EcoStitch™ Technology to apply adhesive in a precise dot pattern rather than a conventional bead. This dot pattern is designed to reduce adhesive usage by up to 50% while maintaining bond integrity and achieving strong fibre tear.
Eco-stitch guns operate at extremely high speeds. Electric valves can reach 15,000 cycles per minute for short durations, activate in as little as 2 milliseconds, and produce dots as small as 1 mm in diameter.
The system is built to improve production efficiency as well as adhesive control. By precisely controlling the volume and weight of adhesive dispensed, an eco-stitch gun can create accurate, high-speed adhesive patterns that improve package strength and quality while using less adhesive.
A key feature of the technology is its all-electric operation. It requires no compressed air, which helps simplify the system and supports lower adhesive consumption. The technology can also include adhesive tracking capabilities.
Eco-stitch electric glue guns are also designed to reduce downtime. By using lower pessure and larger nozzle orifices to dispense adhesive, they can help eliminate nozzle plugging and the maintenance associated with it. Compared with pneumatic pumps and valves, electric systems require almost 90% fewer seals and spare parts, reducing the chance of valve failure and minimising downtime linked to repairs.
This reduction in consumable parts also lowers stock requirements. Fewer seals and spare parts mean reduced investment in stock and storage, helping to minimise total cost of ownership.
In terms of service life, eco-stitch electric valves are built for longevity. They can reach in excess of 1 billion cycles, depending on operating conditions, and service life can be stated as up to 2 billion cycles without maintenance or moving-part replacements.
Eco-stitch systems can give you a return on your investment in as little as four months.
They are used across packaging applications including:
- case and carton sealing
- tray forming
- beverage carrier packaging
- paper bag handle patch application
- case sealing
- sift-proof applications
- flooring application
The wider system can include:
- EcoStitch Series Melters
- MXM Series Applicators
- VD Series Valve Drivers
An eco-stitch gun can also refer to products such as a Twin Module Ecostitch Gun, Single Module Ecostitch Gun Slim, and Single Module Ecostitch Gun, along with related accessories such as cables and a VD2 Gun Driver.
In practical terms, an eco-stitch gun is a high-speed, hot melt adhesive glue gun built to reduce adhesive usage, eliminate many consumable parts, improve package strength and quality, reduce downtime, and support faster payback through more efficient adhesive application.
